THE STORY OF
Here is a
lady that has grit. She pays her own way to police academy two
times and fails. She applies to be a deputy, gets hired and goes
through again and makes it. She would have been my first choice
because she never gave up.
Virginia is minding the check
book for the deputy sheriff association, she was in fact the
treasurer and then it happened it happened. More than $80,000.00
taken. She comes in front of the deputy sheriff association
during a meeting, 40 to 60 “ sworn law enforcement officers” and
admits taking these funds over some period of time. That took a
lot of nerve standing accountable in front of these folks.
Arrested, booked, career
God was present, I mean Sheriff
Stanton. The sheriff already knew a crime was committed, knew
the money was missing and now the suspect admits it in front of
all these cops. Why didn’t they get arrested? Booked? Bail out?
Most of the deputies thought she was arrested and taken to Yolo
County Jail due to hard feelings from the deputies. Never
Another of the sheriff’s pets’.
Stanton will say it took a year
to fully investigate this, to be sure. Don’t want to rush to
justice. Cops arrest people when they believe a crime has been
committed, they only need reasonable cause, they ain’t the judge
and jury. The deputy admitted it. Make the arrest and get the
hell out of the way. Try and tell Stanton this. I tell Stanton’s
attorney during a meeting on one of my many efforts to hold this
guy accountable that if the sheriff doesn’t arrest her I will.
Legally….. Well wouldn’t ya know it’s almost the year mark and
someone gets her into court. A hand full of felony charges and
never booked, posted bail or hand cuffed. Why?? Ask the
When ever his deputies get
caught he protects them, refuses to allow the process to deal
with them. When he arrested a young correctional officer for
workers comp fraud he calls the press to get a camera in place
before they walked the kid outside. Of course later they find
out the arrest is bad, there was no crime, kid got damages, back
pay and his attorney fees paid.
Only about 5% of the public come
in contact with law enforcement so I guess the other 95% are not
concerned at the moment but when it’s you or your children’s
turn do you want someone like sheriff Stanton in charge of the
facts and their freedom?
Virginia, I’m sorry for your
situation, things happen. Stress in life is a factor in mistakes
we all make. I hope the best for you and hope you are treated
fair in the system.
Sheriff Stanton, you should be
arrested for a bucket load of crimes, from obstruction to
conspiracy, you are a disgrace to the badge and to this county.
How many people’s children have you arrested? How many life’s
have been wrecked because of your ego running that dept? How
many times have you taken the freedom of others for so very very
much less and then to use the authority the people in trust you
with to shield your selected pets’

SOLANO COUNTY SHERIFF
This is a true story is about a
detective and his very bad addiction to heroin and
methamphetamine. I have left out his last name because he is
retired and because, although he should have been fired, the
sheriff violated this mans’ civil rights and a few other federal
laws and had to made a deal.
This detective was excellent at
working drug cases. I have been told he had a instinctive gift
when it came to getting these drug dealers uncovered. There are
plenty of police who get caught up in what they are doing,
plenty just by accident and not realizing it is getting to them
a step at a time. There are plenty of good supervisors that
would have seen this coming and reached out with some tough love
and saved this detective from himself. The entire reason for
supervisors is because their experience is suppose to be
superior to those they over see.
This situation went unchecked for
years, up and until the detective started going to Contra Costa
County for methadone treatments and then going to work as a
deputy sheriff. Everyone knew or enough people knew it, take
your pick. This detective went to another county for methadone
and then to work in Fairfield for over two years. He came in for
training one night at the sheriff’s department and was clearly
under the influence. There was a high ranking official that
noticed this. The official ordered the detective outside and had
another deputy administer a series of field sobriety tests to
the detective and concluded he was 11550 HS or “high as a kite”.
Here is a clear example of the
training and mentality in the sheriff’s department. The official
wanted him fired and charged. No problem, clearly called
for,,,,,,,,,until their training came into the picture. The
official wanted to question the detective, he said no, he wanted
a attorney. That’s his and our right folks. Got to respect that.
His union leader came into the room and demanded the questioning
stop. That person was clearly a leader for a reason. He/she knew
due process was afforded to his charge. Well within their rights
again. They still had a great case, still had cause to fire this
guy,,,,,,,,,until the sheriff’s people decided to record the
conversation between the detective and his attorney, yep,
remember the Margo story?
Now this detective who was
clearly in the wrong turned the tables on the sheriff again. The
sheriff broke a few federal laws, civil rights and the detective
got to retire, he will receive full benefits, he gets’ to carry
his gun for the rest of his life and he is a heroin addict. Will
anybody be his victim? Did anybody go to jail because he was not
operating with a clear min
If Sheriff Stanton was standing
in the street shooting his gun into the bank windows and at
moving cars and some deputy, police officer or a boy scout
cracked him in the head with a club and hand cuffed the sheriff,
they would get a medal.
This detective who did commit a
crime was rewarded with full honors and benefits of a deputy who
served with honor. He was given permission by way of the penal
code for retired cops to carry his gun. Does he still have a
heroin addiction? Will he use his gun in an unsafe manner? If
so, will that get the county sued, again? Sheriff Stanton
trained this detective, surrounded him with supervisors that
either didn’t recognize the effects of this this type of duty,
did not have the training themselves to be a supervisor to
properly train and keep this detective safe or just did not care
because that is the good ole boys club and they don’t rain on
each other’s parade.
If they were in a gun fight that
Sgt would be yelling for these deputies to keep their heads
down, wanting to know if anyone’s’ hurt, medivac the wounded out
because, by god we have to save our people. Then send a
detective into the world of drugs and drug dealers everyday for
years and don’t think twice about the effects, the liability,
the safety of the civilians around these operations. The answer
is again clear, they don’t earn their rank in the club house,
they are gifted it and that my fine incompetent sheriff, is what
gets people killed.
The commander is the first to
take blame, the commander is the first to enter the danger and
the last to leave, behind every last person they entered with,
dead or alive. The commander sets the standard by example, the
commander obtains respect by earning it. The commander both
protects his/her people and disciplines them. The commander does
not send people on a assignment without proper training and
Sheriff Stanton, next time you
call a formation, statute the flag, talk about sacrifice, wear
those uniforms which are designed and tested by men and women
that came long before you, with their discipline and a
responsibility that goes beyond anything you have seen or
experienced in the 39 years, here in a free country at their
cost and then you have the nerve to demote and try to discredit
one of them. You need to visit a VFW and sit next to men who use
words like honor, god and country, then measure yourself and
your so called experience. Detective Patrick should have been
fired and you should have been jailed for not providing proper
training or supervision but then that’s just my opinion.
When we hear about wasting
taxpayer money and then find out just how much is wasted by
those working in the system it makes you wonder if the fox
guarding the hen house hasn’t already been tried.
The recent stories about San
Francisco Police acting out and lying got dozens of cases kicked
out of court. How much did that cost? These cops in Contra Costa
County selling drug they have taken from drug dealers and then
Solano County Sheriff is right
there. How many times has he put the county at risk by breaking
the law? How many victims will be re-victimized because their
suspect’s case was kicked out of court? How many deals has he
made to keep his decisions from being made public?
For the same reason the military
is headed up by a civilian, the police and sheriff’s dept should
have civilian review board.
By the way, Detective Pat, David
Adams, John Arabia and Margo all worked in the same unit.

SOLANO COUNTY DEPUTY
Margo is long gone from the
sheriff’s department and I left this person’s last name because
the story reflects more on the management of the administration
than it does this deputy.
Margo wanted to test for sergeant
and had to prepare a packet displaying all the documents
required to test for this position. Most departments require you
be on the job for 5 years, have a good service record, have a
good knowledge of the law and can stay calm under fire, oh,
there is one more item. They want you to have a college degree.
Here’s where the problem started.
Margo had everything except that darn degree. Margo improvised,
Margo created one, got caught and then got fired. That would
seem too fair since the police are suppose to be honest and their
word is taken in court as fact almost every time.
You see, the sheriff has what you
might call teams within his department. He has his favorite
team, the deputies and the bastard team, the correctional
officers. There are a couple special teams but only brings those
out for those special times.
Margo getting fired seemed fair
to most. Margo worked for the correctional officers “side” where
the rules were different. There were some deputies that had be
caught doing the same thing and they were not fired. The sheriff
never even tried to fired them, he set his policy on this type
of behavior and didn’t even know. Margo drags the sheriff in
court, with our county paying the bill for the sheriff., again.
The court saw a double standard,
they saw a bias, they saw what they would not have seen had this
been a private company owner, who would have asked about their
exposure before pulling the trigger. When you’re not worried
about not getting paid and you get to play with other people’s
money, these type of decisions get made. That would be the
sheriff, 39 years of never, ever missing a pay check. 39 years
of never being out of pocket for any of the lame decisions he
Margo got the job back as a
sergeant and then got promoted to lieutenant and then got to
retire with the pay of that higher paying position.
Well played Margo!
So what did we get out of the
deal you ask? We got a legal battle anytime a person gets fired
with cause because the sheriff has different rules for the
teams. The legal cost alone was well over $200,000.00 when is
the last time you wrote a check that big for a attorney? I mean
you would want to think it over, talk to your friends and
relatives and maybe even a attorney.
What could you have done with a
$200,000.00 for your child’s school?
Not the sheriff, by god, this is
his dam department and no one is going to tell him how to run it
and no one is going to make him pay for screwing it up.
I remember after the federal
trial concerning David Paulson. The judge of over 30 years spent
20 minutes telling us how he was but a steward of the court and
for the people. He talked about the worries of making the right
choice and the need to be fair and honest. He invited everyone
to walk through his chambers reminding them it was the peoples
office and he was only occupying it for a while. This was a
Federal Court Judge appointed by the President for life. Really
he was an American that cared for the system and how it effected
the people and it showed.
There is not a single reason for
the sheriff department to be divided up. They should be one
voice working as a team for the people. That will not happen
until there is a sheriff that understands he/she works for the
Margo did wrong there is no
denying that and she beat the system because the sheriff
compromised that system by making his own rules. He took an
oath to up hold and enforce the laws of America, not to be a
enforcer of his ego, or did he?
There one more thing that puzzles
me. Margo supervised the CALMETH Unit with David Adams and John
Arabia working under this person. Birds of a feather?
